30 years of the Senior’s Academy: Expansive educational program for the anniversary year
The summer semester is approaching fast – and not just for students! Dresden Senior’s Academy has now published its program for the next six months at www.tu-dresden.de/senior. Registration opens on March 19. This year, the Seniors' Academy is celebrating its 30th anniversary and has once again put together an extensive educational program.
In the coming semester, participants will be able to consolidate their knowledge of science, business, art, culture, medicine, law, and history. The breadth of subjects on offer is also reflected in the upcoming lectures: These include “Population Development - Food Economy, Resources and the Environment,” forest fires in Saxon Switzerland, and Saxony in the time of Augustus the Strong. Creative design with groups of fellow enthusiasts and traveling with like-minded people are other ways to keep mentally fit. A guided tour of Freital-Burgk Castle or a visit to the Lang & Heyne watch manufacturers, for example, will give you an insight into the region.
A lot of space is dedicated to digital education. Senior citizens can familiarize themselves with smartphones, tablets and the like during lectures and in small groups. Digital office hours help to answer any questions that may arise.
There will also be workshops on artificial intelligence and how older people can benefit from it. The current educational program also allows you to delve into the fascinating world of language models such as ChatGPT.
If you want to learn more about the wide range of educational programs offered by the Dresden Seniors' Academy, be sure to add the Long Night of Museums to your diary. At the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum in Dresden, amateur painters will present their art installation “Seniors in Space - Lost in Space?” on June 8 starting from 6 pm.
Registration for the summer semester opens on March 19 and can be done online or at the Seniors’ Academy office. You can find the program and modalities at www.tu-dresden.de/senior.
