Kick-off of the new format "University-wide Inaugural Lecture"
Newly appointed professors in focus
The appointment to a new university is an important career step for any researcher. They do not stand out due to proven expertise, outstanding performance, and high potential alone: Newly appointed professors fulfill a wide variety of demanding tasks in everyday university life as lecturers, researchers, supervisors and project managers.
In the monthly "University-wide inaugural lecture", TU Dresden publicly introduces newly appointed professors from various disciplines every third Thursday and welcomes anyone interested.
Upcoming event
Prof. Chernikov was appointed to TU Dresden in 2021 and conducts research at the Cluster of Excellence ct.qmat at the Chair of Ultrafast Microscopy and Photonics. His academic career has taken him to the University of Regensburg, the Philipps University of Marburg, and Columbia University of New York, among others. Multiple funding prizes and awards from the DFG, the ERC and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation underscore Chernikov's commitment. In his inaugural lecture, he will address the fascinating platforms that atomically-thin materials offer for fundamental research and future technologies, as they absorb and emit light with high efficiency. The presentation will be held in English and will be accompanied by a reception.
Appointment to TUD
Appointing outstanding professors is one of the most crucial tasks for a University of Excellence such as TU Dresden. TUD strives not only for the diversity and internationality of its staff, but also for the interdisciplinary connectivity of their academic foci, thereby accommodating the contemporary changes in research topics. Therefore, TU Dresden welcomes enthusiastic individuals who increase the attractiveness of Dresden as a science hub and whose numerous activities connect TUD and DRESDEN-concept partners across the city.
