TU Dresden’s "Green Seminar Room" inaugurated
TU Dresden now has a "Green Seminar Room" (Grüner Seminarraum). On a green, outdoor area right by the Weberplatz building, the new “room” was inaugurated by the Rector of TUD, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen and the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. Friedrich Funke on 25 October. "Green Seminar Room" is designed as a seminar room, equipped with all current standards such as an interactive board, tables and benches, but located outside – amidst greenery.
The costs of around € 40,000 were financed via the campaign "Quix". "Quix" is a programme that serves, just like the Excellence Initiative, the improvement of study conditions. All "Quix" projects with a total volume of over € 250,000 are based on students' ideas. "For me, as the Rector of TU Dresden, it is always a special pleasure when students contribute their ideas and ideals to actively shape our campus and - as in this project - the future of teaching. This cannot be taken for granted, and is therefore all the more crucial", stated Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, expressing his gratitude to the students.
This exterior design is intended to inspire students to develop new school teaching and learning concepts. The "Green Seminar Room" offers interesting opportunities for the development of new teaching formats, especially in view of the TU Dresden University School, in which innovative forms of teaching, learning and coexistence are established, tested and scientifically evaluated. The "Green Seminar Room" will be available for lectures and other events and can be used by everyone. It offers space for about 30 people and is equipped with weather-resistant exterior systems and a projection screen. The project idea was developed by the student Anne Noack from the Faculty Students' Council Vocational Education and implemented under the leadership of the Directorate Property Management, Technology and Security of TU Dresden.
