QS World University Ranking 2021: TU Dresden’s upward trend continues
In the 2021 QS World University Ranking was able to climb ranks. In the global comparison of the most renowned universities, TU Dresden is now ranked 173rd, a jump of six places compared to the previous year. In 2012, TUD occupied 288th place. Among German universities, TU Dresden belongs to the top tier - in 9th position. This is an improvement by 2 places compared to the 2020 ranking. Once again, TU Dresden achieved particularly good results in terms of employer reputation and the ratio of lecturers to students. TU Dresden is also considered to be particularly strong in research and was able to further consolidate its reputation in the global scientific community.
"The continuous climb in this internationally leading ranking is evidence that we are on the right track," says Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, Rector of TU Dresden. "A decisive factor was certainly TU Dresden's renewed success in obtaining the title of a University of Excellence. After all, it is precisely in terms of its scientific reputation, which is the most pivotal indicator, that TU Dresden has been able to further improve".
The QS World University Ranking by the British service provider Quacquarelli Symonds is one of the most influential international university rankings. Worldwide, 1,029 universities were analysed for the current ranking. 1,002 universities made it into the ranking list, 45 of them from Germany. The evaluation focuses on the reputation of the universities among scientists and employers, the number and citation frequency of publications, the supervision ratio of lecturers and students, and the international composition of students and staff.
