UPDATE: Organizers cancelling public auditorium because of pandemic situation - TU Dresden stands up for interaction and democracy
As a result of the late Friday afternoon publication of the 7-day corona incidence for Dresden from 57 to 100,000 people, the organization team decided to cancel the rally out of responsibility for the health of all participants. In addition, a further increase in infections is expected by Sunday. The message of the alliance is now to be transported more strongly via social media channels. Further information will follow.
[Numerous civil-society initiatives, as well as the Lord Mayor of the State Capital Dresden, are calling on people to join them in the city center on Sunday, October 25, 2020, to celebrate the manifold commitment to peaceful coexistence, tolerance and interaction in Dresden. This is to demonstrate that Dresden is not a place for racism, hatred and resentment.
The members of the Extended University Executive Board and the Senate of TU Dresden support the initiative, since this event is an important opportunity for the students and members of staff of TU Dresden to stand up for a respectful and meaningful interaction with one another. It takes into account the principles of a verbal and cosmopolitan university that is committed to humanity and the social responsibility of each individual.
Under the motto “gemeinsam.aktiv.bunt” (together.active.colorful), the Students’ Council – in cooperation with Tolerave – would like to invite you to join the start of the rally at 12:00pm on Fritz-Foerster-Platz. TU Dresden, alongside the Saxon State Library – Dresden State and University Library, the DRESDEN-concept partners and Dresden International University, will be there to help kick off the event. The Extended University Executive Board cordially invites all university members and citizens of the City of Dresden to join them in their move from the campus to the city center. Stand together with many committed people to set an example for interaction and democracy!]
