Visit the campus of TU Dresden on Februar 19th
Peacefully but clearly, the TU Dresden wants to demonstrate that it sees itself as a cosmopolitan university, where foreign students and scientists are welcomed with open arms.
For that reason, the TU Dresden invites everyone to attend an event held on Saturday, February 19th, 2011, starting at 13:00 h, under the heading „Our Campus“. In front of the lecture hall center, staff members as well as students of the university are able to meet and together demonstrate peacefully and non-violently to show that they reject any form of extremism. Among others, „DJ Herr Lehmann und sein Hund" will rock the campus and make sure that everyone has a good time.
The rector of the TU Dresden, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, as well as the chancellor, Wolf-Eckhard Wormser, will also be on hand from 13:00 h and will be glad to participate in discussions.
The numerous foreign cultural groups of the TU Dresden are also encouraged to present themselves within the scope of the event.
In preparation of the event, the rector of the TU Dresden pointed out, how important it is to him that the TU Dresden is perceived abroad as a cosmopolitan university. „From my personal point of view, each individual is encouraged to clearly show that extremism and xenophobia are not tolerated in Dresden and at our university. This also applies to the event next Saturday.“
People from about 120 different countries work and study at the TUD. Overall, about 3,600 foreign are enrolled here. Further to that, 400 persons from all corners of the globe are working at the university. In addition to that, external research partners in Dresden also employ numerous foreign scientists. „These people have come here placing their trust in us and represent an enormous enrichment for our lives. I want to tell them: We are happy to have you here!“
