University School Dresden awarded School Prize for Digital Teaching
The University School Dresden has been awarded the PHYWE School Prize for Digital Teaching. Of the around 80 participants, 3 schools received an award. The University School was nominated in the “Digital Newcomer” category and is the first school from eastern Germany to be honored.
The PHYWE School Prize honors schools that have developed and follow a special digital lesson plan, display particular dedication, use digital technology creatively in teaching, or have developed an innovative digital approach to schooling.
The jury’s rationale
“The Gemeinschaftsschule [school for the joint learning of all students] has managed to combine and test innovative forms of education with digital school and learning organization. The jury has been won over by the school’s holistic approach, which exploits the potential of digitalization on all levels while rethinking and expanding on fundamental processes and procedures in a school. Projects instead of subjects and project teams instead of classes are just a few of the many new approaches that promote the individual learning paths, independent responsibility and personal fulfillment of the pupils. The consistent incorporation of hardware and software in the new forms of teaching and learning helps pupils understand and experience firsthand the value of digital tools at an early age, enabling them to use them competently and responsibly. This success is visible in the pupils’ learning progress, playful fun and creative projects.”
As a reward, the University School Dresden will receive a school license for the curricuLAB® software and a voucher for equipment for physics and chemistry.
