The Maypole 2024 will be put up by Dresden carpenters on the Altmarkt in Dresden from 11 a.m. on April 27. At around 11:45 a.m., 30 dance enthusiasts, including students and scientists from TU Dresden, will dance the elaborate ribbon dance in green and white to a diamond pattern around the maypole.

This traditional custom thus remains alive in Dresden. Every year, it attracts many onlookers to the city center for the opening of the spring market. After the setting of the maypole, the TU Dresden folklore dance ensemble "Thea Maass" performs beautiful dances. Later, everyone is invited to "Dance into May" and the hustle and bustle of the market begins on the Altmarkt. Come along and enjoy a beautiful spring day!
