Abstract:

In my group we are interested in understanding how dynamic and force-generating properties of the microtubule cytoskeleton contribute to the spatial organisation of cells. 

Over the years, we have worked on the reconstitution of minimal, functional cytoskeletal systems at increasing levels of complexity. 

Examples are the reconstitution, in artificial confinement, of basic mitotic spindles, and the topic of today: the design of minimal systems for the study of microtubule-based polarity. 

These efforts fit in a long-term ambition to build, in collaboration with others, a complete synthetic cell from scratch.
