POSTPONED: 1st Scientific Area Network goes public! – Insights into our Food
+++ Postponed to a later date +++
FOOD is not only an existential basic need, but has always been a topic of, often underestimated, explosive societal power. Global food security, healthy food for all, resource-saving production of affordable food or the treatment of diet-related diseases are among the major challenges of the future.
FOOD unites: The What, How and When of food intake reveal the cultural conventions and social norms of a community. FOOD separates: What we have on our plates is also an expression of our very individual self-dramatisation and status assertion.
Therefore, food and nutrition are key and cross-cutting topics of numerous scientific disciplines - from biology and medicine to psychology, chemistry, agricultural science, political sciences and sociology, media and literary studies, economics or design theory.
1st Scientific Area Network goes public!
‘Insights into our food’
on 5th May 2020 from 6pm to 9pm
Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden Lingnerplatz 1, 01069 Dresden
In contrast to previous SANs, the focus of the Scientific Area Network goes public! event will be on both networking with researchers and engaging in dialogue with interested citizens. The questions raised by the citizens on the subject of nutrition are collected in a public call before the event and then discussed together. Together with Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden, DRESDEN-concept organises the 1st Scientific Area Network goes public! on the topic ‘Insights into our food. The event is thematically linked to the special exhibition 'Future Food. Essen für die Welt von morgen’ (21st March 2020 - 21st February 2021).
