Education for sustainable development
Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) empowers people to think and act in a sustainable way. Living ESD at colleges and universities offers an excellent opportunity to turn tomorrow's decision-makers into change agents for sustainable change through self-efficacy experiences and the creation of meaning.
Sustainability is already an integral part of teaching at many universities. Almost all of them include aspects of sustainability in the form of sustainability goals (SDGs) and/or ESD in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Increasingly, courses are being offered in the areas of key qualifications and continuing education. Aspects of sustainability are thus seen as basic skills that should be taught from the outset, at best in an integrated manner as a cross-cutting topic. Sustainability skills are preferably addressed on an interdisciplinary basis rather than in separate degree courses.
You can get a good overview of teaching in terms of education for sustainable development from the Green Office at TU Dresden.
