For orientation and support on topics such as starting your studies, individual timetable planning, studying abroad, difficulties in your studies, etc., there are a variety of counselling services and contact persons both in the Department of Building and Environment and centrally at the TU Dresden. The following overview contains a brief description of the tasks of the various functionaries and the subject areas and leads you further to the specific contact persons for your department.
The study advisors provide support and advice on the following topics, among others:
- Study requirements and structure - also for prospective students
- Individual timetabling and planning of the course of study, including a possible semester abroad / study abroad stay
- Credit transfer
- Choice of subsidiary subjects or specialisations / majors
- Possible supplementary studies
- Study techniques and exam preparation
- Change of subject / change of study location
Subject advisors are the first point of contact for all difficulties related to your studies, helping you to identify your concerns and the appropriate contact point.
Contact persons in the faculties:
A teacher and a student are appointed for each degree programme within the framework of quality management for teaching and learning. Their responsibilities include the following topics:
- Quality assurance and development of their degree programme
- Development of subject-specific quality objectives for their degree programme
- Significant participation in programme evaluation
- Implementation of own suggestions for improvement
- Advising students/teachers on questions/problems in the degree programme
- Accepting and processing or following up on complaints
- Close cooperation with the Dean of Studies and the Student Council
- Advisory membership in the Study Commission

The Student Representative Councils (FSR) are student interest groups that primarily offer services and advice "by students for students". They offer a wide range of services and tasks, including
- Helping students find their way around the university
- Provision of learning aids and other teaching materials
- Counselling in the event of performance problems during studies
- Student representation in various commissions/committees
