Urban economics
Regional science, e.g., deals with the effect of regional structure on a city. We can evaluate political decisions according to people’s wealth, for instance climate policy measures. Therefore, we use an urban model, which includes complex interdependencies between different actors.
In the area of regional science we do research on city and traffic, land utilization as well as the environment. This includes the evaluation of wealth according to speed limits, the subvention of local public transport, the mode choice, congestion and externalities as well as measures to reduce CO2-emissions. Transportation economics
Transportation economics deals with wealth effects of transportation measures. These are, e.g., speed limits or tolls. Furthermore, we look at the effect of taxes on CO2-emissions. To estimate welfare effects a monetray evaluation of effects of transportation projects is needed. Especially in the case of non-market goods, where prices are not known, this is a special challange and an important field of research at our chair. READ MORE

Environmental economics
We focus on measures to reach the goals of climate policy. This means we evaluate different fees to reduce CO2-emissions and discuss optimal gasoline taxes and electricity subventions. Additionally, we look at wealth effects of subventions for e-mobility on. READ MORE

Further research
We deal with retirement provisions, the effect of interregional inequality on life satisfaction, the convergence of regions, the effect of democracy and press freedom on corruption, migration and the effect of human capital on regional productivity. In this field of research, we use econometric methods and available datasets. READ MORE
