Film Surprise - Student jury surprise film - 13.05.25

Students from TU Dresden and Leipzig University interested in Cinéma français have come together in a jury to select a film from a series of French or francophone films (OMU) from the Institute français Film Fund (IF Cinéma).

The films had never been shown in German cinemas before. The selected surprise film was shown on May 13, 2025 on the occasion of the 26th French Film Days Dresden at the Programmkino Ost, with an introduction by the students.

Résumé

Chien de la casse was the film chosen by the TUD student jury as the best from a selection of films not previously shown in German cinemas.
Following the screening, the Dresden audience was very moved by this comédie dramatique by Jean-Baptiste Durand from 2022 during the discussion.

Topics of the extremely lively discussion, which went in many different directions, included the (perhaps toxic) relationship between the two protagonists, the gap between town and country and the role of women in this 'men's film'.
