Alumni meeting '24

After a two-year break, our summer party and alumni reunion took place on 31.05.2024. Around 90 former students and employees as well as current team members came together for a stimulating and exuberant exchange.

After a reception with coffee and pastries, Prof. Majschak welcomed the numerous guests. He then presented current topics and developments at the Chair of Processing Machines/ Processing Technology and the Fraunhofer IVV. In the second lecture, Fabian Kayatz, Group Leader for Processes and Machine Integration at the Fraunhofer IVV, presented an innovative welding process for plastic films based on a mechanical impact pulse. Dr. Clemens Troll from Theegarten Pactec GmbH & Co KG concluded the formal part of the event with his presentation on "Current perspectives on mechanical engineering studies". Based on statistical analyses from recent years, he presented requirement profiles for mechanical engineering graduates from an industry perspective. Finally, he made several proposals for adapting the mechanical engineering degree program at TU Dresden to the changed framework conditions. This provided plenty of material for discussions, which were lively both in the lecture hall and throughout the evening.

For the second part of the event, the participants moved to Hall AS, where the weather was still good. There, a summer barbecue buffet and drinks provided ample opportunity to talk to familiar and new faces. Even the onset of rain could not dampen the mood in the packed hall. Demonstrators from the sponsors FormerFab and watttron as well as parts of the Chair's technical center provided technical inspiration.
Past and present, professional and private matters were discussed well into the night.
