9th conference Processing Machines and Packaging Technology VVD 2018
With well over 200 participants, the event was better attended than ever before. Under the motto "Processing & Packaging 4.0", there were 47 presentations on the following main topics: Motion Technology and Robotics, Distributed Process Intelligence, Process Safety, Adaptivity and Changeability of Processing, Hygienic Production in Food and Pharmaceutical Production, as well as on new approaches from the field of simulation and process optimization. The User Forum - a more practice-oriented series of lectures - offered presentations and discussion space on topics such as Smart Tool and on new approaches to process monitoring and control through targeted data analysis.
Begrüßung durch Herrn Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens-Peter Majschak
At the beginning of the conference, Mr. Richard Clemens (VDMA, Food Processing and Packaging Machinery Association) gave an overview of the economic situation of the German packaging machinery industry. The title of his presentation "World market leadership in danger? -Pressure to act for German SMEs" was at the same time the introduction to a panel discussion. Various scenarios were discussed controversially and very openly, the consequences of which the industry may have to face in the coming years. Moderated by Dr. Peter Golz (also VDMA), the scenarios were presented and discussed by important representatives of the industry.
The convivial evening as well as the award ceremony of the Otto Hansel Foundation took place at the Historischer Güterboden in Dresden/Radebeul. The evening was characterized by lively discussions and conversations, some of which revisited topics from the panel discussion.
