Technologies for 2D and 3D textile constructions
Currently pursued concepts for composites, and the demand for requirement-adapted, fiber-based materials and structures for high-tech applications in all spheres of life call for the development of automated, highly flexible technologies for the realization of resource-efficient textile constructions at reproducible quality. A breakthrough for wider use of textile-based lightweight constructions in large series applications can only be achieved if the potential of the various textile constructions is fully exploited for the individual use case. The great range of textile materials and production technologies, as well as their combinations allow the user to thoroughly use the entire potential of textile technology in combination with outstanding resource efficiency in a number of application areas.
Technical textiles are characterized by versatility, compatibility, functionality, flexibility and interactivity. These traits significantly extend the range of possible applications are allow the development and opening of wholly new product groups. Depending on the production technology, customized 2D and 3D textile constructions can be produced at the ITM. Matching the current state of the art, the productions leaves little waste, is adapted to expected loads, cost-efficient and consumes few resources, while retaining the possibility of complex geometries in integral construction. To develop special textile structures, necessary additions are designed and implemented experimentally.
