About Inno-Lead@Work
Bangladesh is the second largest textile exporter in the world. Over 90% of Bangladeshi exports to Germany comprise textiles. Inno-Lead@Work is implemented in close cooperation with the BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association) and its first Innovation Centre (CIEOSH), established in 2022 in Bangladesh. In addition, synergies are expected with the GIZ project HELD, which aims to promote education and leadership development for sustainable textiles in Bangladesh.
Background
The acronym CIEOSH stands for "Centre of Innovation, Efficiency and Occupational Safety and Health". It aims to increase the competitiveness and performance of the textile industry in Bangladesh and to make a significant contribution to improving product development capacity, productivity and efficiency in the textile industry. It also aims to support "value-based" business models that generate innovation, growth and sustainability. In the textile industry in Bangladesh, interest in environmental sustainability has steadily increased in recent years, but there is still much room for improvement in the skills of factory workers, the speed and quality of innovation, and working conditions.
Research goals
The Inno-Lead@Work research project investigates how innovation, health and sustainability can be promoted through the work of an innovation centre, which will offer, among other things, new training and modern tools for work analysis and design. It comprises three sub-studies:
- Mission of IC-Study: Defining and developing the vision, mission, operational goals, and appropriate tools to promote the work of the Innovation Centre including top BGMEA management, centre executives, and CIEOSH training facilitators as appropriate
- Training Study: Development, conduction and first evaluation of a new multi-module training for the apparel industry including modules related to innovation-focused leadership, competence development and digital work design, which can also be used for the centre's future training offering
- Dhaka Innovation Study: Developing, conducting, and evaluating a multi-level longitudinal study that is as representative as possible, measuring innovation, resilience, and well-being of entrepreneurs and their employees in the textile industry in Bangladesh.
