Studying abroad
Table of contents
From Dresden to the whole world!
A semester, internship or language course abroad - as a student, you will definitely benefit from a stay abroad. You can improve your subject and language skills, make contacts, make friends, get to know other cultures and much more. To get an overview of the many different options, take a look at our page. A look at our partner country of the month may also help to inspire you.
Which exchange programs can I take advantage of?
Every stay abroad includes an exchange place and funding. Some programs, such as Erasmus+, already consist of both. If this is not the case, you will have to take care of the exchange place and funding individually.
-->OVERVIEWOF ALL AVAILABLE PLACES <--
The following programs and cooperations will take you abroad:
- ERASMUS+ IN EUROPE AND WORLDWIDE: TU Dresden currently cooperates with over 340 European and non-European universities in the Erasmus program. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to gain valuable experience abroad during your studies or doctorate. The tuition fees at the host university are waived and you receive a scholarship. With Erasmus worldwide, you will also receive a travel allowance.
- TUDworldwide: There are many central partnerships with universities all over the world. These partnerships usually allow you to save on tuition fees at the host university.
- INTERNATIONAL FACULTY COOPERATIONS: Many TU Dresden chairs and institutes have specific cooperation agreements with universities all over the world. Here too, tuition fees at the host university are usually waived. You can obtain more information directly from the respective professors in your Faculty.
- INTERNSHIPS ABROAD: The first point of contact for internships abroad is the Leonardo Office Saxony. There you will receive free support: application workshops, intercultural preparation courses, internship placement and support through to the awarding of scholarships. University groups such as AIESEC or IAESTE also offer extensive support.
- FURTHER OPPORTUNITIES: Would you like to combine your studies with an internship? Then apply for the Saxon-Taiwanese "Semiconductor Talent Incubation Program" in Taiwan.
There is also always the option of an individually planned stay, which we will be happy to help you plan.
How can I finance my stay abroad?
- PROMOS SCHOLARSHIPS WORLDWIDE: The PROMOS program can fund study visits within the framework of partnerships worldwide (outside the ERASMUS area) as well as individually planned stays abroad. Scholarships are also available for language and specialist courses abroad and for writing a thesis.
- DAAD SCHOLARSHIPS WORLDWIDE: You can apply to the German Academic Exchange Service for one-year study scholarships (all departments from the 4th semester onwards). There are also various special calls for applications (some from the 3rd semester onwards).
- FURTHER FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES: Exchange programs and scholarships are often limited to certain countries, departments or even universities. We will be happy to inform you about scholarship programs outside the university, such as the Auslands-BAföG, the Pädagogischer Austauschdienst (PAD) or the scholarships of the Fulbright Commission.
How do I apply?
Depending on the exchange program you have chosen, you apply to the respective subject coordinator of your Faculty or centrally at the SG International Affairs. In some programs, the application for the exchange place is made within the faculty, but the application for funding is made centrally in the SG International Affairs. The respective contact persons, application modalities and deadlines can be found on the corresponding information pages of the various programs and cooperations.
Plan your stay abroad at least one year in advance!
