Checklist for Starting Your Studies
Following the receipt of the letter of admission, you must confirm that you accept the place in the program.
Subsequently, you may tackle the following issues:
- Apply for a place in a student dorm at the Studentenwerk Dresden (Students’ Union) or find an apartment or shared accommodation. Do not forget to change your residency registration at the Citizen’s offices of Dresden if you move.
- Submit your BAföG application at the Studentenwerk Dresden (German Federal Training Assistance Act ) if you are a German citizen or find out about other financing options
- Familiarize yourself with the study regulations, your study schedule and the list of lectures – all of them can be found on the SINS (Study Information System) or on the webpages of the faculties
- Possibly take bridge courses for chemistry, physics, and mathematics or use the online offerings of the preparatory courses
- For international students – please take note of additional information on e.g. health insurance and visa. Continue reading….
Freshman Orientation Week
- inform yourself about the first semester events for your own study program and possibly create a schedule for participation. Please pay attention to current information.
- Build your timetable or download a template from the faculty’s webpage
- The Campuscard can be used as a means of payment in the dining halls. To do so, it is best to sign an autoload agreement.
- Check the registration dates for language courses
- Do not miss the registration deadlines for sports courses
- The Campuscard is also the library card. Therefore, register online at the library (SLUB) right away and reserve an appointment for an introductory course at the start of your studies. Please note the current information.
