"Adopt a Tree" Initiative
The tree sponsorship campaign was officially launched on 18 May 2018 with the planting of the first sponsorship trees. The aim of the joint action of the student environmental initiative of the TUD (tuuwi), the environmental management of the TUD, the TUD Foundation and the SIB is to win sponsors for new tree plantings and thus to develop a diverse campus worth living on.
As patron of the campaign, the rector of the TU Dresden, Professor Hans Müller-Steinhagen, has assumed the first sponsorship for a field maple in front of the Günther-Landgraf building. Further plantings are realised every year. The student environmental initiative has published an overview of the sponsored trees (status 07/2020).
"I am very happy", said Professor Thomas Bürger (Director General of the Saxon State and University Library, 2003 - 2018) when handing over his tree, "the Japanese cherry donated by the SLUB staff on the occasion of my departure will bloom in the wonderfully designed Rectorate Garden in the future. The campus is becoming more and more beautiful and greener, so I will gladly donate another citizen tree. The idea that students study in the shade of the trees is just too beautiful."
If you are want to make our campus greener and it you are interested in sponsoring a tree, you can find more information here.
