Locations
TU Dresden has two central locations in the city of Dresden - the TUD|Campus Südvorstadt and the TUD|Campus Johannstadt. There are also other locations such as the Botanical Garden and university campuses in Tharandt, Pirna and Zittau.

TUD|Campus Südvorstadt
The main campus of TU Dresden is located south of the city centre and is easily accessible by bus and tram. It offers everything from canteens, libraries, lecture halls, guest houses, and dormitories, halls of residence to cafés and parks.
TUD|Campus Johannstadt
The Johannstadt campus is mainly characterised by the Faculty of Medicine. The buildings of the University Hospital are located here. Research and teaching is carried out at the centers of Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB) located here, such as the CRTD and BioTec, which work in close cooperation with the University Hospital. The Johannstadt campus also includes institutes with their workshops on Marschnerstrasse and Dürerstrasse in the MAR, DÜR, PEZ, LIZ and WIK buildings.
TUD|Botanical Garden
Some 10,000 plant species can be discovered in the centrally located botanical garden. The Central Academic Unit of TU Dresden is located at the edge of the Grand Garden [Großer Garten] and was established in 1815. The 3.25 hectare site is home to plants from all climate zones and various regions of the world.

TUD|Campus Tharandt
The Campus Tharandt is located southwest of Dresden and is home to the Department of Forest Sciences. One of the oldest forestry training centres in the world is located here.Heinrich Cotta began his forestry training in Tharandt as early as 1811.Due to its proximity to Dresden, the traditional campus is also quickly and easily accessible by public transport.
TUD|Campus Zittau
The International Institute (IHI) Zittau is located in the city of Zittau. The Central Academic Unit of TU Dresden is an international graduate school with its own Master's programmes. Teaching and research at IHI Zittau are orientated towards the interaction between biodiversity and responsible management. Intensive cooperation exists with the TUD Faculties of Environmental Sciences, Business, Economics, and Biology as well as with extramural partner institutions such as Senckenberg and the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development.
TUD|Campus Pirna
The Campus Pirna is home to the Institute of Waste Management and Circular Economy, which is part of the Department of Hydrosciences. There are also technical labs for research and teaching of the Chair of Wood Technology and Fiber Materials Technology at the Institute of Natural Materials Technology.
Field office Neunzehnhain (until 2022)
Another institution specializing in hydrosciences was located in the central Erzgebirge district until 2022. The Neunzehnhain Ecological Station was founded back in 1959. The station teaches in the field of physical, chemical and biological water analysis and conducts research into the water quality of low mountain streams and reservoirs, but was handed over to the TU Dresden in 2022.
