Environmental Guidelines at TU Dresden
Technische Universität Dresden aims to foster a setting where aspects of environmental protection are taken into consideration and all university members identify with these values. TU Dresden is a role model for society, commerce and politics and bears in mind the needs of future generations. The university strives to continuously improve environmental protection efforts in all areas of activity, extending beyond the statutory requirements.
- Information and motivation: Technische Universität Dresden initiates and supports responsible and sustainable development both within the university and beyond. To this end, TU Dresden connects relevant stakeholders both internally and externally, valuing a transparent process design. All university members are involved in this development. TU Dresden publishes its activities and environmental protection efforts in an annual Environmental Report at tu-dresden.de/umwelt.
- Education and research for sustainable development: Technische Universität accepts its responsibility to society by supporting education for sustainable development and lifelong learning. Through training and continuing education, Technische Universität Dresden raises awareness among its members to the challenges and opportunities of sustainable development. Extending beyond regular degree programs and courses, TU Dresden offers students the chance to learn about the environment and exchange knowledge in an interdisciplinary and participative manner. TU Dresden uses its scientific competence to actively advance research topics in sustainable development and strengthens cross-subject, transdisciplinary dialogue across all its Schools.
- Resource management: Technische Universität Dresden manages resources responsibly and works to reduce any negative environmental impact of its operation to a reasonable level for a university. The university increases resource efficiency by improving monitoring, developing and refining indicators and integrating research and teaching into this process.
- Mobility: Technische Universität Dresden promotes environmentally friendly, accessible mobility that meets the needs of all university members. It improves transportation conditions to reduce traffic flows.
- Campus design: Technische Universität Dresden has designed its outdoor areas to include green spaces, walking paths and connections to various locations to meet the broad range of needs of people and nature with consideration for the environmental impact.
- Linking occupational, health, radiation and environmental protection: Matters of occupational, health, radiation and environmental protection must be taken into account in all occupational and decision-making processes at TU Dresden. All persons involved work together to ensure this.
