The DRESDEN-concept Science Slam is rescheduled
Slam in a chapel - The DRESDEN-concept Science Slam is rescheduled!
It takes more than a torrential, apocalyptic thunderstorm to discourage the DRESDEN-concept scientists from slamming. On 2nd July at 6pm the Open Air Science Slam *reloaded* will take place in the castle chapel of the Dresden Residence Castle (German: Dresdner Residenzschloss). The initial Science Slam on 23rd of May had to be aborted for security reasons due to severe weather over Dresden. Important information for all soccer fans: The slam will have scored all its science topics in time, well before the kick-off of the last 16 game of the European Soccer Championship.
The topics of our Slammers stretch from cell biology and cancer research to restoration. Four Slammers from four nations and from three different institutes of the DRESDEN-concept partners shall present their research results. The Slams will be held in German and English, each one subtitled in the other language, so that all visitors can follow the presentations. The public will decide who will be crowned as the winner of the Slam.
Science slams are increasingly gaining in popularity, because scientists can present their research projects in a very entertaining way on stage. In just a few minutes, complex science is presented using easy to understand and inspiring images. In contrast to Poetry Slams, stage aids are allowed at the Science Slam: props or live experiments.
This Science Slam is a cooperative project of the DRESDEN-concept partners. DRESDEN-concept is an alliance of 22 research institutions from the world of science and culture. The Dresden State Art Collections, who provide the location, are partners in this alliance.
The entry is free of charge; however a REGISTRATION is required. Please send an email with the subject line “Anmeldung Science Slam” and the desired number of seats to .
