Fifth Future Lab focuses on “University Culture”
On 17th May, around 90 participants discussed the broad topic of “university culture” at the fifth Future Lab (further information with ZIH login). Under the heading “Responsibility or Comfort Zone”, TU Dresden’s mission statement “Knowledge builds bridges” served as an orientation for the following questions:
- How does the self-image of TUD manifest itself in everyday work, in cooperations and in the self-conception of the university?
- What connects the participants with TU Dresden?
- How can the members of TUD contribute to turning the mission statement with its core aspects of cosmopolitanism and responsibility, willingness to change and innovation, excellence and quality, as well as diversity and interdisciplinarity into a reality now and in the future?
The Future Lab offered a platform to get in touch with one another on topics such as responsibility, cultural values, identification with TU Dresden, management culture and communication, or cooperation and development of TU Dresden.
The fifth Future Lab took a slightly different approach than the ones before: the individual topics of the Future Lab were not communicated in advance. Only at the beginning of the event were three of the thematic circles revealed. Three additional circles were spontaneously determined on the day, after considering the interests of the participants.
The "impulse lecture" was also a surprise. This time there was no speech, but a 30-minute play by Kulturhafen Dresden with scenes from everyday university life that may well have been familiar to most participants. The play put a smile on everyone’s faces and introduced the topic in a creative and humorous way.
The sixth and last Future Lab (further information with ZIH-Login) will take place on Thursday, 31st May 2018, from 9 am - 13 pm in the Festsaal Dülferstraße. The series concludes with the topics of personnel development, career paths and the promotion of young talent.
