University-Wide Inaugural Lecture - Prof. Yana Vaynzof
Since 2023, Prof. Yana Vaynzof has held the Chair of Emerging Electronic Technologies at TU Dresden. She has been honored with numerous awards and has also been appointed Director of the Institute for Emerging Electronic Technologies (IET) at the Leibniz-Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW).
In her University-Wide Inaugural Lecture, the physicist, who holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge (UK), will introduce a remarkable class of semiconductor materials that can be processed using simple deposition methods and at low temperatures and can be used in highly efficient photovoltaic devices.
Her international career has taken this renowned top researcher to Princeton University, Haifa and Heidelberg. She is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, the American Physical Society and the German Physical Society.
She will contribute her expertise at the intersection of chemistry, materials science, physics and electrical engineering. Her research focuses on the integration of novel semiconductor materials into innovative optoelectronic devices. In her research, Prof. Vaynzof employs a broad range of advanced microscopic and spectroscopic methods, a combination that provides meaningful insights on the nanoscale into the material chemical-physics and light-matter interactions in these novel semiconductor materials. She is a strong advocate for gender equity and diversity in the STEM fields.
The get-together after her inaugural lecture will provide an opportunity to meet the newly appointed professor in person.
