A moving welcome ceremony with a large audience
On October 6, the Auditorium Center’s Audimax was filled to capacity for the welcome ceremony for this year’s first-year students. At the start of the ceremony, TUD Rector Prof. Ursula M. Staudinger voiced her delight: Since taking office in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, this was the first time the ceremony could take place on campus with such a large audience. TU Dresden welcomed new and returning students to the campus with a program accompanied by the University Orchestra Dresden and moderated by students Alina Dziallas and Richard Morgenstern.
The varied program included music, a video message from the Mayor of Dresden (Oberbürgermeister) Dirk Hilbert, a movement break led by Albrecht Uhlig from Dresden University Sports Center (pictured) as well as interviews. The welcome ceremony could also be followed by guests outside of the Auditorium Center, as the event was live streamed to other lecture halls, the lawn behind the Auditorium Center and online.
