EU project A Digital Map of the Bohemian-Saxon Literary Landscape
We cordially invite you to our two-part event on March 3, 2020, 5 p.m. in the Klemperer Hall (Klemperer-Saal) of the SLUB, where we will present the EU-funded project "LIS - Literary Information System" and also open the related exhibition on author Otfried Preußler.
The project, which has been running since 2017, has enabled us to developed an interactive digital map of the Bohemian-Saxon literary landscape which presents the cultural wealth of the region to all users – be it tourists, schools or literary researchers – by localizing and contextualizing selected “places of remembrance”, here understood in a broad sense. Digital filters and texts on at least two separate difficulty levels for each place of remembrance allow all users an individual access to the complex (literary) history of Central Europe. With practical use in a school context in mind, we complemented selected texts with specifically designed didactic materials.
On occasion of the project presentation we will be opening an exhibition on the popular children's book author Otfried Preussler (Krabat, Das kleine Gespenst, Der Räuber Hotzenplotz) – through his works and his own life story, he can be regarded as a symbolic figure for the cultural treasure of the Czech-German border region. The bilingual exhibition (German, Czech) is devoted to the life and literary legacy of Preußler as well as the lively illustrations and popular cinematic adaptations of his books for children.
We would like to invite you to explore the exhibition on March 3rd, introduce you to the manifold options of incorporating the application into your academic teaching and exchange ideas during the reception afterwards.
Your feedback by February 26 will help us organize the event. Attendance without having RSVPed is possible as well, of course.
We are looking forward to welcoming you on March 3rd,
The project team "LIS" of the MitteleuropaZentrum of the TU Dresden
in cooperation with our project partners of the TU Liberec and the HTW Dresden
