Preparing my computer to work at home
Virus protection with Sophos
In accordance with "Dienstvereinbarung zur mobilen Arbeit", working mobile requires the use of business equipment. If no work computer is available, "Sophos Home for Business" must be installed on the home computer as virus protection (see: TU-CERT information).
Activate microphone and camera
For video and telephone conferences, the microphone and camera must be activated. With the standard Windows version, which was obtained via the CampusSachsen Portal, these devices are switched off.

Working in the university network through VPN
Some services require access to the university network or to a special institute or department network. Below you will find instructions for setting up VPN on your computer.

Remote access to my office workstation
If data from central drives is required for work in the home office, it is sufficient to mount the network drives. For this purpose, a connection to the university network via VPN is required first. Only then can following be mounted
- your home directory and
- group drives

If you really need to access the office computer, you can do so via ISL online (https://rsupport.zih.tu-dresden.de).

Telephony and conference calls

DFNconf telephone dial-in with Pexip (short guide) is available in German. This service is provided to all universities in Germany, which is why interferences may occur. - VoIP telephone conference room:
The ZIH offers an alternative to DFNconf for emergency operation relevant functions (e.g.: crisis team): Requesting a VoIP telephone conference room for up to 20 participants via the service desk.
Chats
With Matrix you can create and use private and public chats and chat rooms. The registration is done with ZIH login and password.

For further support requests, error messages and wishes concerning the service, please contact the Service Desk. The colleagues will forward them to the responsible contact persons.
Videoconferencing
Video conferencing is available for meetings with colleagues in the home office where the conversation partners want to see each other. Here it is relevant how many participants are in a meeting. Latest information on video conferencing services is now available on a separate page.
E-Learning
At the TU Dresden the Center for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching (ZiLL) is responsible for the selection of the tools. There you will find a list of tools that are available or recommended for digital teaching (Toolübersicht).
Shared editing of documents
Here you can use the well-known collaboration platforms of TU Dresden.
