HUeBro: House elevation in floodplains using the example of the Elbe village of Brockwitz
"HUeBro" is a joint project funded by the BMUB.1 The Project investigates the raising of houses as an innovative and alternative flood prevention measure on an interdisciplinary basis. The increasing frequency of extreme flood events due to climate change and its wide-ranging consequences is the reason this project was initiated.
The Chair of Hydrology at the TU Dresden, together with the Laboratory of Hydraulic Engineering at the TH Nuremberg, is responsible for determining the hydrological and hydraulic designs bases that are required for all other work packages.
The study is conducted for characteristic conditions (small and large floods, summer and winter events, ice influence, etc.) taking significant influences, like lateral flows and changes in profile geometry, into account.
