KliWES 2
Since 2008, the KliWES project commissioned by the LfULG has been dealing with the mapping of the water balance in the Saxon catchments and the influence of climate change on the various water balance variables (e.g. evaporation, groundwater runoff). In order to improve the previous national water balance calculations for the current state (1961-2010) and for various climate scenarios (1961-2100), a revision and further development of the KliWES project is necessary. The requirements for updating and necessary further development are documented and must now be implemented step by step in the continuation of the KliWES research project. This concerns the updating and continuation of the water balance time series, the updating of the climate scenarios used and the consideration of fog precipitation. In addition, further developments in terms of content are required, which result from the availability of new geodata (e.g. soil map 1: 50,000).
As a result of previous work, the suboptimal representations of some processes in the water balance models (e.g. adaptive adjustment of groundwater level and vegetation to expected future climate developments) require further development or an exchange of the previously used modules. In addition, the IT solution for the "Wasserhaushaltsportal Sachsen" (https://www.umwelt.sachsen.de/umwelt/wasser/10890.htm) is to be adapted to current developments in terms of hardware and software as well as to the needs of the users to keep the portal fit for the future.
