KliWES: Estimation of the effects of forecasted climate change on the water and matter balance of saxonys reservoirs and rivers - section water balance
Climate change and the EU-WRRL are posing new challenges for future water management policies within catchment areas. The establishing of innovative, flood-immune, adaptive strategies for surface areas requires qualified planning concepts and an optimum control of water management. The objective of one of the Kliwies water balance projects is to categorize Saxony's catchments into zones which group similar levels of susceptibility to climate change - based on current, scientifically ascertained water balance data.
The project's results are to be published in a scientific report "Wasserhaushalt und Klimawandel in Sachsen" (Water balance and climate change in Saxony).
