Teaching
Lectures and courses
Since 2024, Anna is teaching as acting Chair for Genomics in the topic Genomics for Master students in Molecular Bioengineering and Biochemistry.
From 2021 to 2024, we have been teaching Biostatistics, Machine Learning, Data Science as part of the course 'Image analysis with Python' for BSc Biotechnology, MSc Molecular Bioengineering, and MSc Nanobiophysics. Material is available here.
Training programs
Since 2024, Anna is acting as faculty in the program Computational Biology Training in Hematology, CBTH of the European Hematology Assocociation (EHA) and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI).
Mentorship
Anna has been taking mentorship responsibility in the KECK Mentoring Program of the TU Munich and the Mentoring Program of the TU Dresden.
Awards
We are happy and proud to have received the Teaching award 2021 awarded by Society of Friends and Supporters of the TUD e. V. together with Dr. Robert Haase. The associated press release can be found here.
In 2023 we received the Gems of e-learning award of the TU Dresden together with Dr. Robert Haase. The associated press release can be found here
We are also helping out with teaching of machine learning, genomics, and cancer biology as guest lecturers in different courses.
Placements
We are happy to host students from various backgrounds, including, but not limited to Computational Biology, Molecular Biology, Physics of Life, Computer Science, Machine Learning, and Medicine. Students who are interested in a placement or thesis should please get in touch with us.
Please be aware that currently placements in the group are purely computational and require programming experience in R or Python. We can only offer projects that use computational biology (possibly including machine learning) with a biomedical focus and are related to the research direction of the group.
For machine learning theory or applying machine learning in other contexts, please have a look at CSBD or Scads.AI.
