Supplementary area for Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies Master’s programs
Information on registering an examined assessment in the supplementary area of Master’s degree programs in Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies
The various examined assessment types are recorded in the module descriptions in the Faculty’s Study Regulations for Master’s degree programs in Linguistics, Literature and Cultural Studies.
You may also consider FLiK modules when making your selection. You can find more information on FLiK modules here.
There is no online registration: each examination is registered via a form. You must submit this form to the examiner before the date of your exam. The examiner will then forward this to the Examination Office after you have successfully completed the exam.
If you have any questions on taking supplementary area courses, please contact your Academic Advisor and take a look at the FAQ.
The following regulations apply to the supplementary area:
Specialized training: Elective module
For the elective module (10 credit points) you can choose between two variants. Variant 2 requires you to complete two reading assignments (exam 4 and exam 5).
As your supplementary area may comprise of two elective modules and two foreign language modules, the second elective module is structured in the same way as the previous module and ensures completeness.
Specialized training: Extended elective module
The extended elective module (15 credit points) can be completed via variant 1 with a short presentation (exam 1), a combined paper (exam 2) and a reading assignment (exam 4). OR you can complete a short text (exam 3), a combined paper (exam 2) and a reading assignment (exam 4). Variant 2 requires you to complete three reading assignments (exam 4, exam 5 and exam 6).

You are also only permitted to take a maximum of three foreign language modules for credit. Please take note of this! If you decide to take a language course at TUDIAS, the registration form (proof of an examined assessment for an elective module in the supplementary area) must be submitted to Ms. Handtke at TUDIAS and is only valid with a stamp. You must also certify that you have successfully completed the language course with the usual TUDIAS certificate.
