Mechanical aids are generally used for the installation of large heavy windows, glass and façade elements, ceiling and wall panels and solar cells. So-called glass assembly devices or mobile and mini cranes, which are equipped with vacuum lifters or gripping tools, are often used.
These machines are currently operated exclusively by hand. This leads to a relatively high personnel requirement, as at least 1-2 people are needed for installation in addition to the operator. In order to address this problem, the "AMoWa" research project is developing and testing assistance and automation solutions for existing machine systems that are designed to increase efficiency and reduce the number of personnel required to install wall, glass and façade elements. The focus here is on the sub-processes of picking up, transporting, positioning and assembling installation elements. In addition to researching new concepts and solutions for the various sub-processes, a demonstrator in the form of an automated assembly device is also to be implemented, which combines the partial solutions developed. This will be used for experimental testing and validation.
