Presentation of the faculty
The Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry combines research-oriented teaching with innovative fundamental research and is closely connected to the research institutes located in the Dresden region. All students are involved in current research topics at a very early stage in their bachelor’s and master’s theses. Our main areas of work include material-related chemistry (e.g. porous materials and nanotechnology) and biologically oriented chemistry. Food chemistry is primarily concerned with the effect and evaluation of food ingredients. Chemistry helps to make our everyday life easier and more sustainable than almost any other natural science. The wide-ranging scientific course opens up numerous professional fields in industry, business, administration or research for our graduates.

Laboratory tours for prospective students
The Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry would like to offer prospective students the opportunity to get to know "the chemistry of the TU Dresden" in addition to offers such as UNI-Live or the student information day. Every month there is the opportunity to take part in a guided tour through the laboratories and lecture halls and to talk directly to scientists and students.
The dates of the next guided tours can be found on the home page (blue information box at the bottom of the page) and in the calendar. The starting point is in the foyer of the CHE building. The number of participants is limited. Registration by email is requested.
Trial week in July/August 2024
Climate protection, renewable raw materials, clean air, next-generation batteries, avoiding CO2 emissions, biodegradable plastics, hydrogen technology, synthetic fuels, health, nutrition, energy conversion...
These are topics that you hear about in the media every day. Actually, it's all chemistry! To give you an insight into the exciting world of chemistry, the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry offers a trial internship for interested students (grades 8-10). In exciting experiment stations, we want to examine everyday objects with you for 3 days and learn to understand the chemistry around us while having a lot of fun experimenting.
Round 1: July 29, 2024 - July 31, 2024 (3-4 hours of laboratory each)
Round 2: July 31, 2024 - August 2, 2024 (3-4 hours of laboratory each)
