Data protection declaration on the processing of personal data in the context of job advertisements and activities at TU Dresden
For what purpose will personal data be processed?
If you decide to apply to TU Dresden, we will process your application data in order to contact you and assess whether you have the aptitude, qualifications and professional performance for the position for which you are applying.

What is the legal basis for the processing of personal data?
The legal basis for the processing of data as part of the selection procedure to establish a civil servant/employee relationship is Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 letter e in conjunction with para. 3 GDPR in conjunction with § 11 para. 1 Saxon Data Protection Implementation Act (SächsDSDG), in the case of the processing of special categories of personal data (e.g. information on health) additionally Art. 9 para. 2 letter b GDPR in conjunction with § 11 para. 2 SächsDSDG.
What personal data will be processed?
Only the personal data that you provide on your application form will be processed.
How will personal data be processed and how long will it be stored?
Data processing is confidential. Recipients of the personal data contained in the application documents are the responsible personnel managers at TU Dresden and, if applicable, the staff representatives (Personnel Representation Council, Officer for the Protection of Women's Rights and Equal Opportunities and, if applicable, the Representative of Employees with Disabilities).
Your personal data/application documents will be stored for six months after the end of the recruitment process in order to safeguard your rights of objection and will then be deleted or destroyed in accordance with data protection regulations as required by § 11 para. 4 SächsDSDG.
If your application is successful, your cover letter and CV will be included in your personnel file.
What general rights do data subjects have?
1) Right to information (Art. 15 GDPR)
You have the right to obtain information on the data processed concerning your person, as well as the possible recipients of this data, at any time. You are entitled to a reply within one month after the responsible party receives the request for information.
2) Right to rectification, erasure and restriction (Art. 16- 18 GDPR)
You may request that TU Dresden rectifies or erases your personal data and/or restricts its processing at any time.
3) Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
You may request that the responsible party send you your personal data in a machine-readable form. Alternatively, you can request the direct transfer of your personal data to a different responsible party, insofar as this is possible.
4) Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)
You have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of personal data relating to you which is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 subpara. 1 letter e GDPR, at any time.
5) Right to lodge a complaint (Art. 77 GDPR)
You can contact TU Dresden's Data Protection Officer (see above) at any time and, in the case of a complaint pursuant to Art. 77 GDPR, the supervisory authority for data protection.

What obligations am I subject to as an applicant?
There is an obligation to provide personal data, as this is necessary for the legitimacy of the selection procedure that is to be carried out. The lack of relevant personal data in the application documents may result in your application not being considered for the job/position. The legal requirements for the selection procedure at TU Dresden are based in particular on Art. 33 para. 2 of the German Basic Law, the General Act on Equal Treatment, the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG) and Budgetary Law. The selection decision for the advertised position must then be made on the basis of suitability, ability and professional performance.
