Accident Reports
In Unit 4.5 Safety at Work, all accident reports are recorded and processed.
Employees, including trainees, student assistants, research assistants, interns and TUD students, are legally insured through the Public Sector Accident Insurer Saxony (German: Unfallkasse Sachsen, UKS) in the event of accidents directly related to work or study activities, including the way to and from the university.
If civil servants are involved in an accident at work, the State Office for Taxes and Finances (German: Landesamt für Steuern und Finanzen) is responsible within the framework of work accident management.

The insurance covers personal injury in connection with work activities and the journey from and to the workplace. With the exception of assistive devices (e.g. glasses), the accident insurer does not compensate property damage.

If a visit to the doctor is necessary, it should be reported immediately that it concerns an accident at work or on the way from/to work. This means that additional payments for medication and treatment are no longer necessary.
Occupational and commuting accidents must be reported. A small internal accident report is to be completed for accidents that do not require/require up to three days incapacity leave from work, a large accident report for accident requiring more than three days of incapacity leave. In the event of a commuting accident, the commuting accident questionnaire must also be completed. All forms must be signed by the supervisor or an authorised representative and sent to our department. The small accident report remain in Unit 4.5 Safety at Work, the large accident report (signature of the Personnel Representation Council is obtainable from Unit 4.5 Safety at Work) as well as the commuting accident questionnaire are forwarded to the Public Sector Accident Insurer Saxony (German: Unfallkasse Sachsen).
If the accident is due to a third-party fault (e.g. traffic accidents, black ice, damaged roads, building defects) and causes and incapacity to work, the report form for accidents caused by third parties must be sent to our office in addition to the aforementioned forms. The same applies to off-duty accidents caused by third parties, whereby the report form must be sent directly to Directorate 2 Personnel by the concerned party. The report forms for accidents caused by third parties are forwarded to the State Office for Taxes and Finances (German: Landesamt für Steuern und Finanzen) for an examination of the claims for damages of the Free State of Saxony.

The form “Investigation of an accident at work according to § 50 Saxon Civil Servant Protection Act (SächsBeamtVG)” can be filled out online on the TUD homepage under the tab “Formulare”. All forms are also obtainable in paper form from Unit 4.5 Safety at Work.

Regardless of the responsibility of the State Office for Taxes and Finances (German: Landesamt für Steuern und Finanzen), our Unit should be informed about the accident to aid in remedying deficiencies at the workplace or at TU facilities.
If the accident is due to a third-party fault (e.g. traffic accidents, black ice, damaged roads, building defects), the aforementioned form report form for accidents caused by third parties must be sent to Directorate 2. The same is applicable for accidents caused by third parties outside of working hours. The report form for accidents caused by third parties is forwarded to the State Office for Taxes and Finances (German: Landesamt für Steuern und Finanzen) of the Free State of Saxony by Directorate 2 Personnel.
According to the Social Security Code VII, student at TU Dresden are legally insured when doing study-related activities that are directly related to our university and its facilities (e.g. the library), as well as when commuting to and from the university, through the

The accident insurance covers personal injury. With the exception of assistive devices (e.g. glasses), the accident insurer does not compensate property damage. Statutory accident insurance protection also applies to participation in general university sports. For internships, the accident insurance institution commissioned by the internship company is responsible. Further information about accident insurance protection at universities can be found here.
If you are involved in an accident, please inform your doctor that the accident occurred in connection with your visiting the university. This ensures that additional payments for medication and treatment are no longer necessary.
Every accident must be reported.
Please report the accident to the responsible contact person at your faculty as soon as possible. In the event of a sport accident, the responsible contact is the University Sports Centre.
