sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy
The “sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy” program was initiated by the Office of the Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs to further enhance teaching content, structures, and processes at TU Dresden. In the context of the program, projects and sub-projects that adapt teaching and teaching development at TU Dresden to the requirements of a top global university of the 21st century will be developed and implemented until 2025.
What is the sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy?
With the “sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy” program, TU Dresden is entering a new phase of teaching development. In 2011, the quality management system for teaching at TUD was developed, giving rise to the “guiding principles of teaching” that are still valid today and from which TUD’s quality objectives are derived. In the phase that is now beginning, a university-wide teaching policy will be developed that adapts teaching development to current and future challenges in teaching, such as interdisciplinarity, internationalization, inclusion, and many others. Similarly, 3.0 also implies the participation of all the stakeholders relevant to teaching development at TUD in the strategy process. “sTUDies 3.0” indicates a multi-perspective view of study as a whole and thus of teaching and learning as well as the underlying teaching and learning infrastructure at TUD. The topic of teaching concerns the entire university, whether students, lecturers, or university administration employees. For this reason, the “sTUDies 3.0 teaching strategy” is being developed together with the members of the university.
The development of a modern teaching model is a top priority for the first phase of the program starting in November 2020. Together with members of the Standing Committee of the Senate on Teaching, representatives of the central scientific institutions, and experts from the administration, the Extended University Executive Board developed a common vision for teaching, forming the point of reference for the teaching policy. The teaching policy is to be developed by July 2021 with the participation of as many members of the university as possible. On this basis, concrete measures will then be developed to meet the challenges of a top global university of the 21st century in a professional manner. In particular, the idea is also to include and improve the teaching development processes and structures. In the next phase of the program, concrete projects will be derived, providing the foundation for the vision for teaching and the teaching policy across the university, implementing it, and thus further increasing the quality of teaching development at TUD, making it fit for the future.
The development of the teaching strategy is supported by participatory formats, such as events open to members of the university, which create space for active participation.
