Partial course for participants of the BQL workshop days: Peggy Germer (#MW2)
Format
Workshop learning is considered a compromise between open and bound learning concepts. In its openness, it picks up on the heterogeneity in the learning groups. At the same time, in the context of an interdisciplinary course, it can accommodate the diversity of instructors in terms of how they design their courses.
Description
The workshop days in the 2021 summer semester were dedicated to the topic “Thinking about analog things from a digital perspective.” Each lecturer created a Padlet for their subject area with tasks, content suggestions, practical examples and literature or literature references. The BQL participants, teaching staff in continuing education, were free to choose which tasks they would work on and when and could choose their depth or breadth. This was accompanied by digital expert slots, in which the lecturers were available to answer questions about the tasks and other issues. In addition, conference rooms were available for each task padlet to enable participants to work in groups and exchange ideas with each other.
The workshop days were interspersed with breaks when, among other things, they could network at TU Dresden’s digital sports programs and a brief yoga course was offered by lecturers themselves. A virtual break room allowed for informal chat and meditation sessions encouraged relaxation.
The open learning program was framed by a kick-off and closing event, which generated interest on the topic at the beginning, moderated an evaluative exchange at the end and brought the participants together in an overarching event.
