What is RIAN ?
RIAN is a modular software package which was developed in an attempt to improve the estimation of unsaturated soil hydraulic functions from laboratory flow experiments. The name RIAN stands for 'Richards equation and Artificial Neural Networks'. The central module of RIAN contains a powerful method for solving the inverse parameter estimation problem with the aid of artificial neural networks. In addition, RIAN includes a global inverse optimisation routine, the Annealing-Simplex method. Furthermore, RIAN also features various visualisation tools for verifying the estimated soil parameters.

RIAN is an interesting tool for anybody who:
