VEREINT - Cooperatively organised civil protection in extreme weather situations
The VEREINT project aims to improve the management of locally occurring heavy rain and flood events in rural municipalities on the basis of cooperative action.
The focus is on a hazard analysis in cooperation with the population, as well as a concept for the integration of unaffiliated helpers from the community and the cooperative action of the emergency forces.
New organisational concepts are being developed and tested to cope with the increasing number of extreme weather events, especially in rural areas. The concept is being developed on a pilot basis for the town of Glashütte.
The following focal points are being worked on:
- The development of a web-based tool to collect data and information about heavy rainfall events, floods and their impacts in order to specify hazard hotspots and reconstruct event sequences.
- A hazard analysis to improve the data situation for the planning of disaster prevention measures.
- The cooperative action of emergency forces in order to improve the cooperation between the different actors for disaster management
- The development of a concept to involve unaffiliated helpers in disaster response and management.
- The training of cooperative action in order to develop and test the understanding of the work of the emergency forces among each other.
