Defense
The defense (§ 11 of the Doctoral Degree Regulations) should demonstrate that the doctoral candidate is able to present the results achieved with the dissertation in a public lecture, that the subject area is mastered in depth and that he or she is familiar with other subject areas affected by it.
The doctoral candidate's presentation should last 30 minutes and the subsequent defense at least 45 minutes. The defense should not exceed two hours in total
As a rule, the defense is to be conducted in German or English. It is public; the date is to be announced by the faculty public.
The doctoral candidate shall be given the opportunity to inspect the complete expert reports without predicate proposals.
Immediately after the defense, the doctoral committee decides whether the doctoral candidate has passed the defense and evaluates it (§ 11 Section 4).
