The School of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a wide range of degree courses and specializations. In addition to a very extensive range of degree programs from the various departments, students are offered the opportunity to specialize and deepen their knowledge according to their personal interests, skills and desired professional field.

Bachelor's degree programs
In the Bachelor's degree program, students acquire scientific foundations, application-oriented basic knowledge and professional qualifications. Social and other key skills complement the course. In most Bachelor's degree courses in the humanities and social sciences, students study several subjects simultaneously with major subjects and/or supplementary subjects. A Bachelor's thesis is written at the end of the course.
TU Dresden awards the academic degree "Bachelor of Arts" in the humanities and social sciences. The Bachelor's degree is a first university degree that qualifies you for a profession. It can be followed by a professional career or a Master's degree.

Master's degree programs
The Master's degree course enables further in-depth study or specialization in the same or a similar Department or an interdisciplinary expansion of existing qualifications. The Master's degree program prepares students for academic work at universities as well as for professional fields that require in-depth academic training. There are also postgraduate degree programs that lead to a Master's degree. These require professional experience.
The degree course concludes with a Master's thesis, an independent piece of academic work. TU Dresden awards the academic degree "Master of Arts" in the humanities and social sciences.
Teacher training
The faculties of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences participate in the university-wide teacher training program.
