Studying in the scientific/technical field is considered challenging. Perhaps you are asking yourself the question: "Can I do it at all"? In order to fill possible gaps in your knowledge, Block B contains math lectures that are specially tailored to the needs of prospective students. They cover topics that are often only dealt with optionally at school while, at the same time, introducing you to university learning.

Alternative modules in Block B

In the course of your studies, you will be confronted again and again with the task of writing a term paper or a giving an academic presentation. To make your first term paper and presentation a success, Module B teaches you the most important aspects of writing and presenting an academic paper.

In the online and face-to-face workshops of the Writing Center you will learn the basic methods, forms and rules of academic reading and writing. You can then apply the methods you have learned in the form of a first academic text. At the end of the OSM semester, you will present your text by summarizing and presenting the main findings and results. 

*For prospective students of science, we also recommend the module "Mathematik: Grundlagen" in the winter semester. The module prepares you in particular for the Bachelor's degree programs in TU Dresden's school of science. The module is also suitable for you if you are interested in studying to become a teacher in the field of mathematics and natural sciences. Details about the module can be found at the beginning of each winter semester in the Course Catalog of Block A.
