Study requirements

• Completion of a first professionally qualifying university degree that is recognized in Germany or a degree from a state or state-recognized university of cooperative education in the field of physics or a degree program with a closely related subject area,


• Sound specialized knowledge in the basics of experimental physics in the subject areas of mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, optics, quantum physics, atomic and molecular physics, as well as in the subject areas of solid-state physics or nuclear physics or particle physics or biophysics, in the basics of theoretical physics in the subject areas of theoretical mechanics, theoretical electrodynamics, theoretical quantum mechanics, as well as in the subject areas of statistical physics or theoretical thermodynamics, in the associated mathematical basics and experiences in physics lab courses, including programming/coding skills, corresponding to the respective contents of the Bachelor's degree program in Physics at TU Dresden.


• Proficiency in English at the B2 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Proof of English language skills is deemed to have been provided if sufficient English language acquisition can be proven as part of the acquired university entrance qualification (for example, basic or advanced course in English or comparable levels), or the previous degree program is/was entirely in English, or the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL online) has been passed with a total score of at least 72 points (New: 4.0) and at least 17 points in each section, or the IELTS test has been passed with at least level 5.5 in all sections, or the UNIcert test has been passed with at least Level II;

Registration for the aptitude assessment or the NC selection process as well as application for admission to a degree program

Your degree program requires you to take part in an aptitude assessment or selection process. To do this, you must have the following documents ready. You will be informed after your online application in which form and deadline the documents will be requested from you (by post or online). Please make sure that your application number, which was assigned to you when applying online, is indicated in your application documents. If you are unable to apply via the selma portal before the deadline, you don’t need to include your application number.
