Object stores are data stores originating from cloud environments. They can be used to store and share data. An object consists of a unique name, the actual data, and associated metadata (such as access permissions and user-defined metadata). Objects are not stored in a hierarchy but in a flat container (buckets). They are accessed via HTTP-based protocols/APIs such as S3 or Swift. All users initially receive 20GB of storage space. This quota can be increased up to 200GB without explanation. You can create up to 50 buckets to store your objects in your unique namespace. To store confidential data additional encryption is required.
