Ensuring medical care in Saxony: Applications for selection interviews to study medicine at TU Dresden's Medical Campus in Chemnitz open from April 1

Dresden/Chemnitz. The application phase for the sixth year of the model degree program in human medicine at the Medical Campus in Chemnitz (MEDiC) of TUD Dresden University of Technology (TUD) will start shortly. Anyone interested can apply for a selection interview from April 1 to 30.
The MEDiC model degree program was established in 2020. In 2021, the central admissions process was updated to include the option of an additional selection interview in order to particularly encourage applicants from the Saxon region to study human medicine. Of a total of 50 university places, 30 percent are allocated based on the highest school leaving exam grades, 60 percent via the university's own selection process (AdH), and 10 percent via the additional aptitude quota (ZEQ). A selection process specially tailored to MEDiC is used for the AdH and ZEQ quotas. Those interested can thus improve their chances of getting a place not only by taking the Test for Medical Studies (TMS), but also by taking the MEDiC selection interview.
The standardized individual interview takes one hour and assesses the personal motivation for studying medicine and becoming a doctor, as well as the applicants' commitment and empathy for the concerns of patients. The selection interviews will take place in Chemnitz from June 23 to 27, 2025.
The MEDiC model degree program is associated with more than just the hope of being able to ensure medical care in the region of southwestern Saxony in the long term. It also aims to train a new generation of doctors who will be involved in the care of patients in wards and in practice at an early stage. Theoretical foundations are taught with direct practical relevance, while modern teaching methods prepare students to confidently evaluate new scientific findings in the increasingly networked, digital medicine.
Chemnitz Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden cooperate closely to offer MEDiC students a high-quality education.
