Tasks
The central task of the Commission for Quality in Teaching and Learning is to decide on the internal accreditation for TU Dresden’s degree programs. The quality of a study program is assessed with regard to TU Dresden’s quality goals, which also include the criteria defined by the German Accreditation Council. Based on this assessment, a decision is then made on the accreditation of the study program.
In making its decision, the Committee takes into account the Center for Quality Analysis’ evaluation report on the degree program in question, the Central University Administration’s statement on the fulfillment of the legal requirements for degree programs, the German Accreditation Council’s minimum standards, the decision of the Faculty Board, including the Faculty’s statement and the catalog of measures, as well as the three external expert reports from specialists from the subject field, people with professional experience, and students.
Furthermore, the Commission evaluates whether the Faculty’s proposed measures are sufficient to achieve the quality goals in the future as well as to ensure and improve the quality of the degree program
The Commission can issue accreditation with or without conditions or recommendations. It can also refuse accreditation. Degree programs are initially accredited for a period of five years, and each subsequent accreditation is granted for a period of eight years. If the accreditation is bound by conditions, the accreditation period is shortened and then extended after the conditions are fulfilled.
For new degree programs, the Commission issues a recommendation on the creation of the program and decides on its accreditation. This accreditation may be with or without conditions, or accreditation could be denied.
In addition, the committee is responsible for selecting the assessors who comprise specialists from the subject field, people with professional experience, and students.
