INTERREG Poland – Saxony 2021–2027
The INTERREG Poland – Saxony 2021–2027 cooperation programme aims to contribute to improving the quality of life of residents in the assisted area, to economic and social development and to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the border region.
Within the framework of the INTERREG Poland – Saxony 2021–2027 cooperation programme, three thematic objectives were selected that correspond to the most important problems and challenges of development in the Polish-Saxon area. These are anchored in three priorities:
Priority 1: A sustainable border area - prevention and adaptation to climate change:
- Specific objective 2.4: Promote climate change adaptation, disaster prevention and disaster resilience, taking into account ecosystem-based approaches.
Priority 2: A liveable border area - education, culture and tourism:
- Specific objective 4.2: Improve equal access to inclusive and quality education, training and lifelong learning services through the development of accessible infrastructure, including by promoting the resilience of distance and online education and training.
- Specific objective 4.6: Strengthen the role that culture and sustainable tourism play in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation.
Priority 3: A dialogue-oriented border area - cooperation between residents and institutions:
- Specific objective 3.1.: "Better governance in terms of cooperation".
Cooperation
At least two partners must be involved - at least one from the Free State of Saxony and at least one from the Republic of Poland.
Responsibility
One partner assumes the main responsibility for the implementation as "lead partner".

In Germany:
Administrative districts of Bautzen, and Görlitz in the Freestate of Saxony
In Poland:
The Subregion of Jelenia Góra (administrative districts Bolesławiecki, Jaworski, Karkonoski, Kamiennogórski, Lubański, Lwówecki, Zgorzelecki, Złotoryjski and urban municipality of Jelenia Góra) in the Voivodship Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian)
The administrative district Żarski in the Voivodship Lubuskie (Lubusz Voivodeship)
Detailed provisions on the implementation of measures inside and outside the programme area as well as on the participation of project partners located outside the programme area can be found in the programme manual.
Funding rate:
Funding can be provided for up to 80 % of the expenditure recognized as eligible from ERDF funds. The remaining 20 % must come from own resources.

Eligible project partners are:
- state, regional and municipal administrations or their subordinate authorities, institutions and associations;
- legal entities under public or private law which are
a) were founded for the specific purpose of fulfilling tasks of a non-commercial nature in the general interest; and
b) have legal personality; and
(c) financed, for the most part, by the State, or regional or local authorities, or other bodies governed by public law; or subject to management supervision by those bodies; or having an administrative, managerial or supervisory board, more than half of whose members are appointed by the State, regional or local authorities, or by other bodies governed by public law;

non-profit non-governmental organisations, associations and economic and social partner organisations in accordance with applicable national law;

small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), provided that the project activities are in the general interest, in accordance with the State aid rules (SMEs may not be lead partners);

European Groupings of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC).
